What? I'm 56 today? NO WAY.

Yes way. How did that happen?
Here's little me with grandma Charlebois. I was born March 19th, 1956. St. Joseph's day.
My grandmother wanted my mom and dad to name me Josephine.
Mom wanted NOTHING to do with that name.
Thank you Mom. Not sure I would have lived up to that one.
Hope I'm wearing undies, lol.
I remember this day. We were in Montréal, one of my favourite places to shop.
I thought I looked pretty hot in my sun glasses. I WANTED sunglasses, not a silly hat.
Maybe I should have taken the hat now that I look at those bangs!!
 My table today.
 Awwww.... spring.

Cream puff cake from COSTCO. You must try it.
The eclairs sit on a brownie type cake. You just pick the balls off and pop them in your mouth.

This makes me HAPPY. And before I forget. I wanted to say
THANK YOU to FRANCY for your sweet comments. I would LOVE to
email you. Please email me?
Guess what came out today? The sun!! and the geese are flocking back to the river by the thousands.
That's my heart up there BTW.

With the warmer weather, the river broke.
OMG what a day. Check it out.
 After an hour, this happened.
Our road is gone. There is an iceberg and tree preventing the water to get to the creek.
We loss power. Had to hire a big back hoe to come and break the ice and take the
massive tree out of the way. Our cottage is up on a hill, so no water in the basement.
All is back to normal. So much excitement, it was hard to contain myself.

Hopefully we won't have anymore SNOW. Not that we had a bad winter,
not at all, but gosh everybody is bragging about record temps, even in
Wisconsin for crying out loud, 80!!! We reached 70 today.
But then it's only March 19th.
I remember we ALWAYS had mounds of snow on my Birthday, ALWAYS,
so I best be happy with what I've got right now.

This is where Randy is taking me today.
It's in Québec. We will take the ferry across, and be there in less than an hour.
We have massages booked. It's a swedish thing. Hot baths outside with a
cold water fall (on the right). They say you have to do the hot and cold circuit thing to
truly enjoy the health benefits. Game on.
 And dinner reservations,
seats by the fire, and the BEST PART...
We get to eat and lounge around in our robes!!
 How "Claudie" is that???
(That's not us, they got paid to do that).

Adding some "pizzaz" to my Tiffany charm bracelet. It's becoming my "friendship" bracelet.

for being my friends.

BONNE FÊTE a MOI.

56 and counting.... the wrinkles ; -)

Now excuse me while I have a piece of my cake.

I know it is late but Happy Happy Birthday today! I am so sorry I did not get my card in the mail! I have had a difficult few weeks. My kitty Boots passed away on Thursday. It is the saddest thing ever since losing my mom in 2001 along with my oldest sister and our dog Shadow! That cat was my friend. Whenever I suffered from my migraines he would never leave my side. I just do not know what I will do now.
But I don't want to ruin your fun! I loved all your sweet photos!
You are beautiful! Enjoy your week! Hugs Anne

JOYEUX ANNIVERSAIRE MA CHÈRE AMIE!!!!!!!!! Your birthday alls on my FATHER'S SAINT'S DAY....which for 75 years, he thought it was his actual birthday. Out in Mexico where he was born, they kinda lose track of birthdays! He was named JOSEPH or José, and for all those years he celebrated on March 19 when in reality he was born in May. OH DEAREST, I SEND YOU MY LOVE and wishes for a spectacular SPA RETREAT!!!!! I will be 54 (NO WAY!) in April. Où diable vont toutes les années???????

GROSSES BISES! Anita

Yes I am posting this message at 5:52am! Wish I could sleep a bit later but I get up with Lindsey at 6am so I will just stay UP!! I did mail you a card - hope you get it today. I wasn't sure how long it took to get to Canada. I mailed it about 5 days ago.

Have a great year and check out my blog later.

Good morning Claudie, HAPPY BIRTHDAY my darling friend. Remember the girls at the craft thing this past October? Quote, "Do you think Claudie is 40?" HA! You, my beautiful friend, fooled a bunch of women...that is saying a lot!!! You defy your age by a long shot. You will never be old in your heart.

I hope you are sleeping your morning away. You need to be alert for your spa afternoon. Randy, you rock. Bill gave me a spa day for Christmas one year at Disney World. Diana, went with me. It was fabulous. We were treated like royalty. I know you will have the time of your life. Huge smile here!

Your special gift is finally in the mail. I pray that it gets there. Being late is fashionable they say...except for birthdays! Sigh!

I love you to pieces,
Jeanne xoxoxo

Bonne Fête chère Claudie!! Your hubbie is giving you a great treat. I have been to that Scandinavian spa (is it the one near St-Sauveur?) and you're in for a treat! I treated my best friend in Montreal for her 50th, it was such a nice girlie day!

I have seen that cake at Costco, it looks delish!

Have a wonderful, wonderful day!

what a cute cute post. That spa event looks freaking awesome. I'd love that. We certainly don't have anythings remotely like that around here....not even in Calgary would they have anything as pretty. Probably would have to go into B.C.
This event looks like the Perfect Claudie day. Do take photos.

I loved the photos. You may be 56, but look how HOT you are.
I can't believe you are having all that hot weather. Dang girl, we aren't anywhere remotly like that.
We are barely at the 50's.

anyway, I hope the sun shines on you all day today.
Lots of love and hugs from me

Happy Happy Birthday Claudie!! How special to be born on St. Joseph's Day. You look too cute with the sunglasses. I never wore too many dresses when I was little. I was a bit of a tomboy, running around, building forts in the dirt fields with the neighbor kids. hehe The place your husband is taking you looks glorious. Have fun tonight. And now I'll have a piece of the cream puff cake. Celebrate in a big way. This day is for you!!!!

Many, many more, lovely Friend.

um---there seems to be something wrong with my screen---there's something stuck on there that makes the "2" in front of the "6" look just like a FIVE. 'scuse me whilst I wet my finger and scrub the smutch off my screen.

Hi, Claudie, sorry to be a day late, but, Happy Birthday!! I hope is was as beautiful as you are. It sounded wonderful...that spa, and dinner out in Quebec!! I love spas but have never been to one like this..an ole Louisiana gal like me, where would we get the snow for hot and cold??
There is no way I would ever take you for 56...my oldest son was born on January 6. 1956..LOL..!! Now I feel really antique, however, I was just 19 when he was born. You look absolutely wonderful for your age. Your Randy must take very good care of you, and you were born to be pretty anyway....I;d have chosen the sunglasses over the hat, too!! Being catholic, too, meant HATS to Mass, and in my day, we wore gloves, too!! I despised myself in a hat!!
I would love to hear from you..my
email address is simple..
francyrichard@aol.com ...I will be waiting to hear from you. I could not email you because I could not find your address!
Thanks for sharing some of the pics of you growing up..nope, I do not think you would have made a Joshepine either...way too stiff a name for a glamerous gal like you!!
Enjoy the rest of the week...Hugs, Francy

Bonjour ma chère et belle Claudie!

Thank you for coming to visit me dear heart. I am glad to hear that you are enjoying a RELAXED birthday, a relaxed spring advent. I will soon be having my spring break not next week, but the next and I am going to TRY to attack my goals to JUMP START my future plans. Wild as they may be, it will involve my burgeoning art and writing, and I just have to start planning NOW.

Our temperatures here have also been MILD and WILD; we had some rain the other night that brought high winds so I HOPE that is not an indication of what kind of spring we will have!

WISHING YOU a special and GIRLY celebration with all those whom you love. BISOUS! Anita

Sorry to have missed the *party* Claudie. Wishing you a belated birthday and hope your special day was wonderful. The spa must have been awesome!

I agree with the others...you easily look at least 10-15 years younger than your chronological age. Lucky, lucky you!

Oh, and if it makes you feel any better, I had bangs like that too! :) Always SWORE I would NEVER do that if I ever had a daughter. Once my daughter was born and started to get hair, I always made sure her bangs were long enough that they just touched her eyebrows. Now when she looks at old photos of herself, she always comments how "ugly" her bangs were! Huh??? I guess moms just can't win when it comes to the length of their daughters' bangs.

And I was boasting 1/2 inch bangs, myself, back in the day...thanks to my daddy/barber/preacher/fixer of anything:)

Hi Claudie,
Catching up on your posts today. The lodge that you photographed reminds me of a place that we love to go to called the Alderbrook Lodge which is about an hour away from where we live. I think I did a posting on it on my blog. Anyway, you can get spa treatments at the Alderbrook Resort, too. Sounds like you had a wonderful day! I love your Tiffany charm bracelet. I have a couple of old silver charm bracelets that I started when I was young. My sister also had one. We got them out in our 30's and started adding charms again. It was fun! I love the lipstick charm you have! Is that from Tiffany's, too? You are making me want to start my own Tiffany Charm Bracelet! I think I will! :) There is a Tiffany store in Downtown Seattle and also one near my son's college in a shopping area called U Village. I bought my husband a Tiffany ID Bracelet for Christmas there. Love all your charms and also your new one! Have a wonderful day. xoxo Kim

And to think... just a few years ago, I was blessed to be able to entertain you on your birthday. How I wish I could do it again!

I'm so sorry I'm late to this year's party, Claudie. It's been a rough go at Magpie Cottage, and it's made rougher by not having a computer. You told me to get a Mac! I remember! But on the bright side, I am able to borrow Mr. Magpie's (who sends belated birthday hugs) to come by to send all my love to you.

Happy Belated Birthday to my Pink Friend!

Missing you lots...

LOVE YOU!

XO,

Sheila
