HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIS.

March 7th, 1954
My sister Debbie is celebrating her
58th Birthday today (fifty-eight!!).
Happy Birthday Deb.
I love you.

What have I been up to...
not much.
Brittany and I were at a small wedding show, and I found the perfect vintage dress.
I'm looking for something to wear to my 25th wedding celebration next year.
May 1st, 2013.
I don't usually plan that far ahead, believe me, but I need the
PERFECT dress.
Can you see her poking her pretty little
polkadot face at me?
There she is. Isn't she beautiful. So MOI.
Thought it would look pretty with these vintage flowers. Wish I could show you the back.
It had the daintiest buttons all the way down.
Could be worn to a beach ceremony, or in the evening to a candle light ceremony.
BUT... it didn't fit. The upper arms were too tight.
I keep saying,
"THEY MADE EM' SMALL BACK THEN".
I have to tell some of you that I'm not SMALL.
My mother and sister are
"SMALL, TINY, PETITE".
I take after my dad's side of the family. Big bones.
I struggle just like anyone else out there. I can't eat anything I want. I have to watch what I put in my mouth. And you know what I say:

I'm only 5'4", and actually I think I've shrunk an inch because of my scoliosis.
Since mom died, I've put on 7 lbs. You might not think that's a lot, but to me it might as well be 30.
But my little gain is NOTHING compared to my dear, sweet, funny, talented, southern bell artist friend
LuLu Kellogg
She has lost over 150 lbs. YES, you read it right.
She was beautiful then, but look at her NOW!!
Just click on her pretty face or here to read her story. She has a GREAT blog, and beautiful jewelry, and she's "the" HALLOWEEN QUEEN to boot.

It isn't good for me to have extra baggage, it puts pressure on my spine.
BTW, Randy and I were at the neurologist again yesterday.
I'm SERIOUSLY thinking of having the major operation to straighten my spine.
I have a huge "S" curve.
I'm tired of being crooked.
I'm looking ahead 20 yrs. and my quality of life.
I have to have an MRI and a bone scan first.
So enough about that.

Let's go back to happy thoughts.
They say SPRING is around the corner.
Do you believe them?
Don't forget to SPRING ahead on Sunday at 2 AM.
Or you'll be wayyyyy too early for church ; )
Brittany took these pics at the wedding show with my new iPhone. Who needs a fancy camera?

 NO, she's NOT getting married.
YES, Sasha should be on a diet with me.
YES, I scored this little shelf for $2.00
YES, fat cat LOVES the sun on her face today.
Yes, I LOVE my hanging paper pompoms in my bedroom.
No, Lucky shouldn't be in my bed... oh well ; )
No Bonnie, mommy didn't mean to give you such a short hair cut. I groomed 6 dogs last week.
 YES, angels are around me.
No Tobby, it's not time to go outside and play in the grass... soon puppy, soon.
More vintage pink drapes for the cottage kitchen.
I think I have a bakers dozen now.
I know, time to stop.
Found this pretty in pink vintage coat for $14.00.
It cost me $30.00 to get it hemmed.
GOSH DARN. Blew that one.
I do remember these coats though.
My aunt Lucienne used to have one in grey.
So that's about it at the Frid cottage.
Thought I would leave you with
"what's inside Claudie's jewelry box".

AGAIN,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY
SISTER DEB. I LOVE YOU.
XOXO

Oh Randy, is dinner ready yet???

I just realized your sister and MY sister are the same age!!! Pretty cool eh.
The bridal fair looks like it was a lot of fun. Too bad that dress didn't fit. I could TOTALLY see you in it. Perfect-o
So I guess the search will continue for your great dress.

I remember going to bridal fairs when my daughter was engaged. Gosh we had so much fun. So many different things to see. It was a great time to spend with my girl.
(yes, I KNOW Brit is not getting married)

Great weight loss your friend did there. Wowza....I'll have to go read about it. Seriously, I am so sick of my two exercise videos right now I coult PUKE. I need to go buy a few more so I can trade it up a little.

Love the coat. Take a picture of YOU IN IT.
purty curtains...so you. You do have a definit style all your own.
Sometimes I am not sure "what my style is "
I think I am a bit of a chamelion(sp) you know, the type that just blends in wherever she needs to.

loved the photo at the end. All I could think of was poor Randy putting out the FIRE !!!! and worried about his prime rib...(was it prime rib roast???..cant remember for sure)

Guess I'll drag my butt off to bed now. It has been exhausting WATCHING Barry plow all that snow today (tee, hee)
love ya BGF

Looks like all the Claudia (ettes) are coming out of the woodwork.

Always a treat to read you updates. (bet you sis just loved you posting to the world how old she is LOL)

She looks great no matter the number huh?

Did really like that cute little dolka dot number :) Happy to hear you and Brit are out shopping how fun!.

About your spine. I want you healthy and strong -- get the best doc in the field for that. (remember years ago I worked for an ortho office and you really have to know they have a great track record and its second nature to them. It will be hard recovery but worth it in the long run.

I am working on some photos of you ... will send them when I get them just like I like them :)

Love you darlin!

Hugs!

Hi Claudie, I'm waiting for my cold pills to help me breathe so I picked up my computer to see what is going in in the world. (blog world) I love to see your posts and this is a sweet one.

Happy birthday to your sister. I wish I could have met her. Maybe one day. I am wishing her a fabulous day.

I adore the photos of your pups. CC is always laying down on the floor like Sasha. I think it is so cute. I can't imagine grooming 6 dogs. Lucky Bonnie and Tobby are cute but you cut their ears so short. HA! Once Christina cut my poodle's ears short and she had the most gorgeous ears. We were on vacation skiing and Christina got bored. The night we flew home and came in through the garage she kept saying, "Mom, look at Trippy's ears, doesn't she look cute?" All I could see was a mountain of laundry on the garage floor but when it finally dawned on me to really look at Trippy I screamed. Christina still laughs about my reaction. HA! Pretty cat and yes she is fat,

I agree with Claudia about having surgery on your back. I do think you need to fix it if you can. Remember, my cousin waited too long and at 70 surgery was not an option. It also makes me fear for you my darling friend. Sigh!

Lulu looks amazing. She is a very pretty woman. I love the photo. Good for her. It makes my 10 lbs sound like nothing.

The coat looks awesome. I want to see it on you too.

I'm getting sleepy so I will try to sleep. This cold is a pain. Thank you for wishing me well. Soon, I hope.

I love you to pieces,
Jeanne xoxoxo

Hi Claudie,
I got your note tonight. I am not quite sure why you couldn't post a comment today on my blog. Hmmm--- I checked the site and it all seems fine. I have received some other comments today on my posting so I am not sure why you were not able to comment. Let me know if for some reason you have this happen again. Anyway, thanks for the very, very sweet comments you made to me by email. I am wishing your sister a wonderful birthday today. I hope that this is her best year yet! We had a lot of fun celebrating my husband, Mark's birthday yesterday. He told me again today how much he enjoyed his special day. That made me really happy. Congrats on your upcoming 25th wedding anniversary! The dress you were looking at looked so lovely. I love it! Loved the flowers you put next to it, too. You are right. It would be a great dress for a beach wedding/anniversary celebration. I had a dress made at a place in Seattle for my son's wedding called Cicada Bridal. They have a website. The owners and designers of the shop studied dress design in New York. They put themselves through school by doing theater costume alterations. I had a short dress with polka dots made for the rehearsal dinner. You can see me wearing it in on my blog about the dinner. I also had my long ensemble for the wedding made there. I just wore my black polka dot sheath dress to a friend's wedding last week. It was great to wear it again. You might be able to order something you like from this shop. My short dress had an Audrey Hepburn feel about it. They design timeless dresses. Google their site. I think you will like what you see. I am also wondering if anyone could let out the seams so that the snug part of the dress would fit you (the one you liked.) I am sure you will find the absolute PERFECT dress, and you are right to start looking early. A special celebration deserves a special dress. You and your sweet husband will definitely have something to celebrate on your big day. Have a beautiful evening, Claudie. You are a beautiful lady and will look gorgeous on your anniversary. Wishing your sweet sister the best birthday ever! Bye for now. xoxo Kim @ Bluebirds and Butterflies

You are such a hoot! Boy, that Randy can do it all! Too bad the dress wasn't the one, it was SO cute. I had to laugh at Sasha spread out on the floor with her belly! Loved your friends boots...I am 5'4" too and I have to back off the sweets at times too, I could live on sweets alone I swear! I loved that coat, I think it was worth the cost to hem it. God bless with the spine thing, I feel for you. Happy Birthday to your sis...Love ya! :)

What a great story you tell! Number one you will look to fab in that lil polka dot dress! Listen sugar britches, let me tell ya the 7 lbs are a concern to you but I know you look wonderful, as always!!!

I too have put pounds on and off but that LuLu just keeps taking it off.(well she only takes it off for the Commander..hehe) She looks great but her personality, like yours makes you look beautiful no matter what the scale says.

Besides EGAD, I'd put the pounds on to with last years black hole moments and then all that snow on top of that! I could never live in cold weather, I'd look like Sasquash! And if you do get the surgery there's no telling how many inches you'll grow! Hang in there, Hugs from Texas! xoxoxoxoxoxo-cindy

Lovely post, Claudie! Love your gorgeous animals. I have a black cat myself and a little bichon frisé. I'm with Tobby. Time for spring!

Your friend must be so proud of her weight loss, 150 pounds, that's like losing half of yourself!

Hope your sister has a great birthday.

You never fail to have a positive parade of delightful thoughts and things!!

I somehow read the pompom picture as "I love my LAUGHING . . ." and it's quite apropos, I think.

And the coat---I HAD one of those, in a silvery grey, and we all loved them! They were called "Poodle Coats," for the lovely knitty snubbing of the lush pile. DO put it on soon with a pair of gorgeous high-heeled shoes, put at least three of your dear doggies on the leash, and have your picture made a la Paris Model of the Fifties.

You're ALWAYS a BRIGHT in my day!

Wow I found you again. I had your blog set on my igoogle page and never saw a change in the picture so I thought you had stopped blogging. Finally I clicked on it today and you had written that you had moved to another blog! I have a tilted body too--but mine is from a pelvic tilt and twist. As long as I do certain stretches I have been able to control the pain , thankfully! I too need to loose about 7 pounds---somehow I managed to gain quite a bit the last few months--must be my chocolate binges!

Dearest Claudie....I am back amongst the bloggies...finally! I have missed everyone, terribly, and am playing catch up:)). How I was drooling over that little polka dot number! It is sooooo you! But you are absolutely right ...EVErYThing was smaller then! I was looking for some sweet little leather vintage gloves at the flea market and spied the cutest pair...with my size stamped just inside. I looked like cinderellas stepsister trying to squeeze her big foot in the tiny shoe...No matter how much I contorted my hand, it was not going to fit. I still can't get those precious little kid leather gloves out of my mind! I am 5'10" and I have hands that match this tall frame...how I longed for petiteness, growing up, and sometimes, even still. I am thankful for my 6'5" husband...he makes me feel petite;)))
Come for a visit, when you have time, sweet girl, and hug all those adorable lovies residing in your dear cottage,

Hi, Claudie..so enjoyed your post
But then, I always do!! Happy birthday to your sister..hope she had a great one.
I loved the teeny weeny polka dot dress...ohhh, that was a BIKINI in the song!! Anyway, it would have looked darling and just your style on you. If you are overweight by even seven pouunds, you must photograph tiny!! LOL That coat is really "tres chic" and it was worth the $$$ spent to have it hemmed because you are going to look one glamorous gal in it..!!
I have the same back problem you do, plus a whole lot of other ones, and if there is a surgery to help, I have not heard of it, but since you must be just in your early forties you have time to do something about straightening your spine. I am 75 years young, and sweet Claudie, I would not like to see you have to go through all of the changes and pain I have..DO SOMTHING NOW WHILE YOU CAN!! The recuperation time might be long, but the outcome would be worth it. I just had a SPINAL CORD STIMULATOR implant put in my back to control the bad pain..the surgeon said I had one of the most twisted backs he had worked on, but because of my age, it is too late to do much except control the pain without making me lose quality
of life...going around half-asleep or like a zombie, which I refuse to do...please let me know what you do, and please make sure the surgeon is TOPS....I will be saying prayers for you that you can have a successful surgery...
Have a good week and I will be waiting for another of your witty, charming posts!!!
Hugs, Francy

Happy birthday to your sis !

Dropping by to tell you how much I love you and all those little fuzzy faces in your post. Your pups are adorable and clearly adore you. Look at those looks!

I'm so sorry I haven't been blogging. I've had computer issues and am on Mr. Magpie's work computer tonight. Don't know when I am going to have a chance to get a new one because I am up to my eyeballs in life stuff... Adelaide's husband had a triple bypass (unexpected), and another friend's husband is in the final days of pancreatic cancer. I have had no time to blog which I miss SO much.

I hope to be back by the end of spring. I miss you and all of my blogging buddies.

Love you to the moon and back...

Claudette, please give me more info on your back surgery. My daughter has scoliosis. I can't tell you the guilt I feel because I didn't know she had it until it was too late. HOW could I NOT have noticed???? She is 27 now, beautiful and has a darling figure, but I know that her back hurts sometimes. I love that Lulu Kellogg...I am happy that she has lost all the weight, but really she's just as beautiful either way. We met for lunch last month and she is so pretty and such fun.

And for the record - you are beautiful too! I think right now you are just going through so much after the death of your sweet mama. ((hugs))
