Charleston or bust

To Charleston that is.
Jeanne and I drove over 5 hrs. to check it out.
We took a horse and carriage ride with this fella.
MEET JAKE
Sweet sweet boy.
Jeanne from Backyard Neighbour getting up onto the carriage.
Go Jeanne.
 Check out these "smokin'" NITROTINIS.
WOW, very cool and yummy.
We decided to eat at Magnolias
What a great Southern Dining experience.

I tried things that were truly Southern.

We also had fried green tomatoes on a bed of sweet grits.
OMG. Sooo good, and I hate grits.
I ALWAYS ask the waiter/waitress what their favourite dish is...
usually means you'll like it if they LOVE it.
We topped it off with
SOUTHERN PECAN PIE.
WOW AGAIN. Shared it and devoured it.
Forgot to take a pic.
I'm always AMAZED with all the different flowers in the SOUTH.

This was our room. It was very cozy, and pretty.
The staff were wonderful, but some of the guests were buggy.
Let's just leave it at that for now...

Jeanne and I were not really impressed with Charleston. Sorry girls.
There wasn't much to do.
The shops were nothing to write home about, but this one was cute.
The sky was beautiful.

The trees weren't as pretty as Savannah,
 but still majestic.

We did find a fountain to play in. I was getting soaking wet while Jeanne took this one.
It was COLD water!!

I would much rather visit SAVANNAH again.
Charleston, you most likely
will never see me again : (
But, the food was great and so were your NITROTINIS.
I really really wanted to see the Ocean.
So we drove to Folly Beach and put our feet in
the water.
It was very pretty, and the highlight of
our trip.

I know I spelled boardwalk wrong oops.
My sweet friend Jeanne.
I know I keep writing N.C.
It was S.C.
We could have walked for miles, but we knew we
had to get going. We had a long ride back to Franklin, N.C. Jeanne had to get up at 6:00 am to
get to her Garden Club festivities.
Claudie got to stay in bed ; )
So sit back and put your feet up 'till I come
back with the rest of my trip SOUTH.

I thought Charleston was supposed to be awesome. Isn't there a lot of historical places to see there of the civil war.
I would LOVE that. History is my passion.
That food sure looked good. I have a DIL from the south and she loves her grits. me, not so much. yuky.
You and Jeanne look so beautiful in all the pictures.
I would have liked to dig my tootsies in the sand along that beach.
Fun to vicariously enjoy this trip with you.
Hugs today!!!!! my BGF

Hi Claudie,
I don't know how I missed this post!
Such pretty pics of you and the trip!
I actually love Charleston, especially the homes along the ocean and the history too.
But we didn't make it to Savannah so maybe that would have changed my mind.
Anyhoo, you look cute as can be in that beautiful dress!
And the bear, well we have this huge state forest in our county and now we have a huge bear population to go with it.
The DNR won't probably do anything unless he becomes a nuance.
I am looking for bear spray or something along that line.
Hugs friend,
Cindy

Hi Claudie, I just comment on your previous post. Loved it as always. We are here in Houston in our motel room and having some computer time. As I said, we could not get to anyone's blogs and comment for a whole week. Now, we are trying to figure out why our emails won't send. sigh. Why oh why isn't life perfect. HA!

This post is a good review of our trip to Charleston. We found fun in spite of some things we found in Charleston. Big secret smile here. No bugs in Houston thank goodness.

Cheri' is having a hard time adjusting to our different locations. Shirley's dog (a he) fell in love with CC and drove her nuts "dogging" her constantly. He was so annoying to her. She told him off constantly which made for a very loud barking medley of noise. Sigh! We did have fun though.

Today we are waiting to hear from Brandan and hoping he can have lunch with us. His wife is working.
We will spend all day Sunday with them. On sat. we are spending time with some of Bill's friends. Tomorrow we will do the tourist thing in Houston, then visit Shelia in Galveston on Monday and head home. I wonder how CC and Chloe Dawn will get along. We'll find out.
We are looking forward to our visit there.

Gotta go, I am reading "The Help" I saw the movie and loved it. The book is a good read.
I love you to pieces,
Jeanne xoxoxo

Good morning Claudie, I can't get any emails to send so I am commenting here again. Bill has not figured out why our email isn't working here.

We are still in Texas but we are heading home this afternoon. First we are heading to Galveston to visit Shelia at Note Songs for lunch. That will get us home by tomorrow night.I am missing our cool mountains. It is HOT in Texas. Or mot to offend my Texas friends...Texas is hot... You can choose from this double meaning. Smiling here.

I have no way of weighing in here so I will do that on Weds. We will be home by then.

We are busy getting packed etc. this morning. Not fun.

Thank you for Bill's Father's Day wishes. I rec'd Randy's message but again I can't respond by email at all. Is this nuts or what???

I love you to pieces,
Jeanne xoxoxo
