What's my question Tuesday

I'D LIKE TO KNOW WHY SO MANY OF YOU ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT
 ALL THINGS FRENCH?
 I'M FRENCH CANADIAN.
GREW UP IN A BILINGUAL  HOME.
WENT TO CHURCH WHERE ONLY FRENCH WAS SPOKEN (AFTER LATIN).
SCHOOLING WAS ALL IN FRENCH UNTIL I STARTED HIGH SCHOOL.
LIVE ONLY 1 1/2 HRS. FROM MONTREAL.
 RELATIVES WERE MOSTLY FRENCH.
MY GRANDMOTHER CHARLEBOIS ONLY SPOKE FRENCH.
MOST OF YOU ADORE ALL THINGS FRENCH.
AND I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHY??
THAT'S ALL. JUST CURIOUS.
Happy Tuesday

Everything seems fancy if it is French. The language is beautiful. The fashion is amazing! We don't do ugly right?? :)

Well for me, it's just a wish of living in a stone cottage with blue shutters wearing a wispy white dress riding a bike with a basket full of fresh flowers that I just got from the market... In others that damn Hollywood has sensationalized my dream! LOL

By the way, could you please send me that teacup, book and mirror? Did I say Pretty Please... LOL

Hi Claudie, Good question. I do like French Country decor to a point but people have gone a little nuts with the style of Provence. Shabby and all white and gray. Not my taste at all. Burlap pillows??? UGH! I am pretty traditional and a bit of French Country. Actually, a mix of different styles. Except Modern or retro. I like some retro but I don't have anything in that style. Maybe because I lived the 50's and they don't seem old yet. HA!

I love your cup and saucer and the lovely book. Your French background is charming. It is something that makes you special. I love that your blog reflects that part of you.

Gotta run, I am playing Mah Jong today. I haven't played in two years. My sister called and she and I will have fun playing again.
I love you to pieces,
Jeanne xoxoxo

Claudie, I am checking in for a second to say that I love French things because they have such beautiful style. French china in particular. Is there anything lovelier than limoge?

And I am part French, too. I have some French ancestors as does Mr. Magpie. So it makes sense to me.
I also love French Canadians, but I'll let you guess why! ;-)

Thanks for the prayers and well wishes.

XO,

Sheila :-)

Claudie, it's just so glamorous! And is anything more romantic than Paris in the springtime? My 25-year old daughter is in Europe right now. She has been saving for years to take the vacation of her dreams (other than a 1-week family vacation to Canada 10 years ago, she'd never been outside the U.S.).

She landed in London the morning of the Royal Wedding! She was only in London for a few days, and she is now in Madrid for a few days. But her last stop is PARIS, France, and she made that the longest part of her journey - a full 7 days! She is absolutely so excited to be going to Paris!

So you are right - everybody does love all things French!!

Have a wonderful week, Claudie! And I'm glad you enjoyed my post about Baby and I watching the Royal Wedding! haha... Donna

Hi Sweetie! I think people like it because of the charm and romance of it all! I like certain things, but wouldn't turn my house into all French things. I love the pictures of the Provence countryside and Paris, the cools whites...which all aren't as French as many would think,
and just the simpler way life. And the French language is the prettiest language...really.

Big hugs to you, sweetie! You are such a delight!

Oooh I love this question! My grandparents were French Canadian but I only knew them until about age 14, then they passed away. I have always loved all things French and even visited Paris by myself exactly ten years ago. I fit right in because I'm told that I look Parisian. I will be going again at the end of the year and can't wait!

Ayez un beau jour!

Cheers,
Holly

Well... just look at you. So girly, so feminine, exquisite style, and the language is really the most beautiful. Just makes you melt. French always conjures up images of the way life should be for all of us. But sadly, is more like a fairytale for most of us. But hey, it's nice to dream about!

Love you Sweet Claudette.
and that's another thing... Even your name is soft and feminine and pretty and girly.

See?

I like SOME French things....YOU being at the top of the list:):) I love SOME of the look in decorating but now all the gray and white that everyone seems to be doing right now. Not for me:) I am sorry you don't have flowers yet....that is one reason I could NEVER live farther north than I am. I love the spring and summer too much and hate the cold!!!! XO, Pinky

I believe that I have been fascinated by all things french because of the illusiveness. (right down to the fact that I did so poorly in French in High School.

Since movies were what I was raised on-- there wasnt a ugly French woman or unromantic French man.

Wanting to be an artist -- where else does anyone go to art school other than Paris LOLLL ahhh the movies... the movies are the only true answer for me.

Hugs GF
