Charleston or bust

To Charleston that is.
Jeanne and I drove over 5 hrs. to check it out.
We took a horse and carriage ride with this fella.
MEET JAKE
Sweet sweet boy.
Jeanne from Backyard Neighbour getting up onto the carriage.
Go Jeanne.
 Check out these "smokin'" NITROTINIS.
WOW, very cool and yummy.
We decided to eat at Magnolias
What a great Southern Dining experience.

I tried things that were truly Southern.

We also had fried green tomatoes on a bed of sweet grits.
OMG. Sooo good, and I hate grits.
I ALWAYS ask the waiter/waitress what their favourite dish is...
usually means you'll like it if they LOVE it.
We topped it off with
SOUTHERN PECAN PIE.
WOW AGAIN. Shared it and devoured it.
Forgot to take a pic.
I'm always AMAZED with all the different flowers in the SOUTH.

This was our room. It was very cozy, and pretty.
The staff were wonderful, but some of the guests were buggy.
Let's just leave it at that for now...

Jeanne and I were not really impressed with Charleston. Sorry girls.
There wasn't much to do.
The shops were nothing to write home about, but this one was cute.
The sky was beautiful.

The trees weren't as pretty as Savannah,
 but still majestic.

We did find a fountain to play in. I was getting soaking wet while Jeanne took this one.
It was COLD water!!

I would much rather visit SAVANNAH again.
Charleston, you most likely
will never see me again : (
But, the food was great and so were your NITROTINIS.
I really really wanted to see the Ocean.
So we drove to Folly Beach and put our feet in
the water.
It was very pretty, and the highlight of
our trip.

I know I spelled boardwalk wrong oops.
My sweet friend Jeanne.
I know I keep writing N.C.
It was S.C.
We could have walked for miles, but we knew we
had to get going. We had a long ride back to Franklin, N.C. Jeanne had to get up at 6:00 am to
get to her Garden Club festivities.
Claudie got to stay in bed ; )
So sit back and put your feet up 'till I come
back with the rest of my trip SOUTH.

Gotta have me some Southern Comfort

Let the adventure begin.
My sweet GA. peach CC picked me up at the Atlanta airport.
She took me to my favourite southern restaurant, Cracker Barrel.
I had to buy a couple jars of Fried Apples.
I cook them up with pork tenderloin
(when I cook : )

The next day CC and I went Thrift shopping.
It is our favourite thing to do together. I wanted this
chair sooo badly, but it wouldn't fit in my luggage.

Then my other sweet southern friend Teresa, we call her Daisy Duke, picked me up
in her (what I call) VINTAGE JEEP. NO DOORS, NO WINDOWS, NO PROBLEM....
- except when Claudie wears a dress! NEVER wear a dress in a jeep with no doors. OMG.
Here's the road, yes the road, as we drive 70 mph. The truck drivers loved us.
TOOT TOOT.

She makes draperies, burlap EVERYTHING, clothes, and she can cook!!!

Check her out PLEASE
Tell her I said, "Hey Daisy".

Teresa drove me to Jeanne and Bill's home in the N.C. mountains.
This is my 3rd time staying in their cabin. This was my view every single morning.
Thank you sweet friends. I love you like family.
My little buddy Cheri' was my partner in crime while Jeanne and Bill were active doing their Senior Olympics, yes you heard me... OLYMPICS.
Those two can run circles around me.

Is this CUTE or WHAT?? Cheri's little tootsies
are right there with us.

Teresa's legs are as long as...

Miss Cheri's legs, lol
Gotta love it.

Then Claudie spotted RED POPPIES all over the side of the hwy.
STOP THE CAR JEANNE!!!
Let's goooo.

We had so much fun, but then Teresa had to head back home to her children.
She had weddings to take care of.

See you soon Daisy. We LOVE you.

Jeanne and I headed to Charleston the next day.
We passed through Asheville where we had our girlfriend reunion last Oct.

You'll have to come back later, and I'll continue my adventure.
Right now I have to go and watch the sunset.

Back with more beauty than ever, if that's possible.
